WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a gentle and natural system of healing. One of the most ancient healing methods known, it originated in Tibet and was rediscovered in the nineteenth century by a Japanese monk named Dr. Mikao Usui. The Usui System of Natural Healing is named after Usui and has been passed down by Reiki Masters since that time. Today, Reiki is practiced worldwide. Reiki is now used in many hospital, clinic, and hospice settings. It is a wonderful complement to massage therapy, cranio-sacral therapy, and psychological therapy.
The Japanese word, “reiki,” consists of two syllables: “rei,” which means “universal,” and “ki,” the “life energy,” corresponding to Chi in the Chinese system of Qigong and acupuncture, and to the concept of prana in the various Indian systems of Yoga. Thus, Reiki refers to the healing qualities of universal life energy. Reiki works on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. It is a precise method for combining this universal energy with the body’s innate powers of healing. Reiki is not meant to replace professional medical advice but rather to complement other treatment modalities by encouraging very deep relaxation. Practitioners do not diagnose or prescribe medication. For additional information, please also see these FAQ. You might also like this Amazing Reiki Birth Story.

Students receive thoughtfully prepared and thorough handouts that can be constructed into a tailor made workbook for each level. Reiki Master III and Reiki Master Teacher workshops offer advanced healing teaching techniques. Students are certified as an Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Master or Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Master Teacher. Students may attend additional workshops as interns, up to the level they have completed, at no charge (space permitting). I am always adding to the training. Reiki Treatments
Reiki can be added to any healing modality, or used alone. Reiki can help ease pain or reduce stress when offered for any amount of time, but a complete Reiki treatment typically takes one hour to complete. Performed on the body, it uses a very light touch. It can also be performed several inches above the body or from a distance. In distance Reiki sessions, people respond the same way they would in person.
People desire Reiki treatments for relaxation, pain management, support of traditional medicine, and sometimes to help empower themselves through life's challenges.
Reiki Healing Attunements
The Reiki Healing Attunement is a precise technology that opens the body's energy channels (meridians and chakras), helping them to embrace the natural process of growth and healing. In addition to acute illness or injury, Reiki Healing Attunements are often used to empower goals or to help a person move beyond limiting patterns and resistance.
In Reiki, the recipient always determines how much Reiki they receive and accept. A Healing Attunement allows the recipient's Higher Self to take a more active role in recovery and goal achievement. Many people experience dramatic shifts following this type of attunement.
